Prices

You will always hear that so and so up the road is getting £X per tonne for the material that they have got.  Understanding what differentiates your waste and theirs is paramount.

You have to consider how much you produce, per day, week, or month and is this material loose, compacted, baled, palletised or treated in some other way.

Finally, transport, equipment and further handling all impact on the commodity price that you may receive, as all these costs have to be taken into consideration before arriving at a final rebate or cost

Material

You have taken the time to segregate your material, so now you have just one singular waste stream, say cardboard.  Then you have to decide, dependent on the volumes you produce whether to just put this in a skip loose, compact it, or bale it.  The latter two items have additional costs in terms of machinery to help you perform these tasks and which suits your business best.  It is not always the return value that is the driver, sometimes its about efficiency and how this impacts on labour, processing times that may impact on your business

Knowing 'what you want' is paramount - and we are here to steer you through this, providing advice and assisting you to come to the right decisions for your business.

Baled/Compacted

Baling provides the highest returns on commodity waste streams, provided that the baler you are interested in makes 'mill sized bales (minimum weight per bale of 400kgs) and are wire tied

Compactors are great at shifting large volumes quickly and are easier in terms of operation, however, the value you will receive is greatly reduced as the weight that goes into the compactor container is considerably less than a full load of bales and also, we then have to bale the material when it gets to our site, to make it presentable to market.

Loose

Finally, what we call loose material is literally cardboard, plastics or other source segregated wastes put into a skip loose.  These are usually all 'chargeable' due to the low weights per load and further processing costs.  There are always materials that will be naturally heavy and will require little or further handling and may attract rebates due to its particular type.

This is why we always recommend a free site survey to ensure the solution meets everyone's objective
